Job summary

Novus in York is recruiting a Learning Needs Support Practitioner on a permanent, part-time basis (14.8 hours per week). You will work with learners to identify needs, develop practical strategies, and provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to help them engage, progress and succeed.

You will collaborate with tutors and wider support teams, promoting inclusive learning, building confidence, and ensuring learners are supported to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Level 2 qualification in Hidden Difficulties or equivalent.
• Track record of working effectively with learners presenting with challenging behaviour.
• Understanding of how people learn and methods to enhance learning.
• Supporting the learning of individuals and groups.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group learning support.
• Collaborate with tutors and support teams to promote inclusive learning.
• Maintain accurate and timely reporting of learner progress.

Are you passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and reach their full potential? We're recruiting a dedicated Learning Needs Support Practitioner to join our supportive education team. In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with learners to identify individual support needs, develop practical strategies, and provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support that helps them engage, progress and succeed. You'll collaborate with tutors and wider support teams to promote inclusive learning, build confidence, and ensure every learner is supported and empowered to achieve meaningful outcomes.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Full Sutton, working as a Learning Needs Support Practitioner . This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 14.8 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Full Sutton is a Category A high-security prison located in East Yorkshire, approximately 11 miles from York. It accommodates around 600 adult male prisoners, many of whom are serving long-term or life sentences. The prison offers a structured and secure environment where education plays a vital role in rehabilitation. Learners are supported through a range of educational and vocational programmes.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• To hold level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy
• To hold a Level 2 qualification in Hidden Difficulties or equivalent or be willing to work towards within an agreed timescale
• Track record of working effectively with learners presenting with challenging behaviour
• Understanding of how people learn and methods that can be used to enhance a learning experience
