Job summary

Hugh Baird College – Main Campus is seeking a Safeguarding Officer to join our Student Services team on a temporary, full-time basis for an initial six months. This vital role supports the safety, wellbeing and success of our learners, delivering frontline safeguarding guidance and coordination with internal teams and external agencies.

You will manage safeguarding records, respond to concerns, and work with parents, carers and services to keep students engaged in learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and awareness of current issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to manage a caseload and prioritise under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Respond to safeguarding concerns and disclosures, ensuring appropriate action.
• Manage and maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records.
• Support students with safeguarding and wellbeing issues to enable continued participation in learning.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies to deliver effective support.
• Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings (e.g. Child Protection, Early Help, Team Around the Family).
• Promote safeguarding and Prevent awareness across the College.
• Deliver information, advice and guidance sessions to students and staff.
• Support training and awareness activities in safeguarding and Prevent.
• Contribute to safeguarding initiatives, campaigns and student engagement activities.
