Job summary

Hugh Baird College is seeking a Safeguarding Officer to join the Student Services team. This vital temporary role supports the safety, wellbeing and success of learners, providing frontline safeguarding guidance and recording safeguarding activity.

Working with internal teams and external agencies, you will help ensure the College meets its safeguarding responsibilities, manage a caseload, and contribute to multi-agency safeguarding work. Initial 6-month contract.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Respond to safeguarding concerns and disclosures with appropriate action.
• Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records.
• Support students to stay engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with parents, carers and external agencies.
• Attend multi-agency meetings (e.g. Child Protection, Early Help, Team Around the Family).
• Promote safeguarding and Prevent awareness across the College.
• Deliver information, advice and guidance sessions to students and staff.
• Support safeguarding training and awareness activities.
• Contribute to safeguarding initiatives and student engagement.
