MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following areas:

  • Break down complex learning instructions: Clarify, explain, simplify, amplify, and break down instructions to support comprehension.
  • Keep learners highly engaged: Assist the learner to stay focused, motivated, and engaged.
  • Utilise specialized support knowledge: Ensure sound knowledge of supported students' learning difficulties and/or disabilities to carry out support recommendations.
  • Implement tailored learner strategies: Develop and facilitate support strategies, adhere to risk assessments, care plans, and EHCP targets/outcomes.
  • Track and monitor progress: Provide feedback for effective support monitoring and complete accurate daily support records (termly reviews, learner agreements, target setting, E journals, and pro-monitor records).
  • Promote assistive learning software: Encourage and enable the use of assistive software and equipment to facilitate learning.
  • Build individual learner confidence: Actively seek opportunities to promote the learner’s self-esteem, confidence, and independence in the learning activity.
  • Boost literacy core skills: Support with literacy skills including reading, spelling, punctuation, and grammar using a variety of strategies.
  • Boost numeracy core skills: Support with numeracy skills including calculation examples, and embed life skills such as money and time.
  • Develop vital study habits: Support the student in developing study skills such as organisational strategies, notetaking, and scribing.
  • Provide formal exam support: Support learners with exams when required to invigilate or act as a scribe, reader, or prompt.
  • Participate in review meetings: Attend regular meetings to share and provide information for review and evaluation purposes.
  • Supervise off-site student trips: Accompany students on trips and work experience where necessary.
  • Deliver physical mobility support: Provide mobility support, including assistance with walking aids and wheelchairs.
  • Manage classroom student behaviour: Take a proactive role in maintaining acceptable standards of student behaviour and attitudes alongside teaching staff.
  • Foster strong team relationships: Establish positive, constructive, and supportive working relationships with learners, tutors, and colleagues.
  • Commit to continuous development: Actively participate in continuous professional development activities to develop knowledge about specific conditions/disabilities.
  • Follow compliance and policy: Adhere to best practice guidelines, risk assessments, policies, and procedures.
