Job summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking a Student Advisor (Money Support) to provide targeted money advice and tuition fee debt support to students, using a structured caseload approach to help them stay engaged with their studies and succeed academically.

You will collaborate with Academic Schools, Finance and Student Services to resolve complex financial issues, develop budgeting plans and promote financial resilience, while using data to identify risks and improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a support or advice-giving environment.
• Ability to build trust and provide practical guidance to individuals facing challenges.
• Comfortable holding sensitive conversations and supporting students.
• Organised, proactive and solution-focused in prioritising workload.
• Knowledge of the Higher Education sector and student funding or financial aid.

Responsibilities

• Deliver inclusive, accessible student money advice tailored to individual needs.
• Manage a caseload of students with tuition fee arrears using a case-management approach.
• Collaborate with Academic Schools, Finance, Student Services, Global Engagement and external funding bodies.
• Support students to develop budgeting and money management skills and promote financial resilience.
• Use data and student insight to identify patterns, risks and emerging issues to improve outcomes.
• Identify students at risk of arrears and deliver early intervention activities.
