Job summary

Cardiff Students' Union is hiring Student Advisers to provide free, confidential, impartial advice to students across academic, housing, finances, and wellbeing matters. The role involves face-to-face engagement, advocating for students, and supporting them through university procedures.

You will join a dedicated Student Advice team, work flexibly with full-time 35 hrs or part-time minimum 20 hrs, and help students achieve positive outcomes with professional, student-centred support.

Qualifications

• Candidates should demonstrate empathy and a supportive approach.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills are essential.
• Ability to explain complex procedures clearly to students.
• Experience in student services or welfare support is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide free, confidential, impartial student advice on a range of issues.
• Help students understand options and navigate university procedures.
• Assist with investigations and hearings as needed.
• Coordinate with the Student Advice team and support campaigns.
• Build positive relationships to empower students to resolve issues.
• Engage with students face-to-face and in a timely, student-centred manner.
