Job summary

UCS College Group based in Taunton is seeking a Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer to coordinate wellbeing and safeguarding support for students across the college.

You will triage referrals, provide one-to-one and group mentoring, and signpost students to internal services or external agencies, helping create a safe, inclusive environment while maintaining composure under pressure.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding and student welfare.

• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Job description

Based at Taunton College, the Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer plays a pivotal role in coordinating wellbeing and safeguarding support for students across the College.

Working closely with the Safeguarding Team Leader, the Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer is responsible for triaging referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate support is provided, and maintaining a calm and effective approach under pressure.

This role is central to supporting students - particularly those from vulnerable groups - by addressing a wide range of issues that may affect their learning and overall college experience.

This is a full time term time only position on a fixed contract covering maternity leave.

Salary

£25,906 - £27,602 per annum Scale 6 (Actual)

£29,226 - £31,139 per annum Scale 6 (FTE)

The Student Experience & Safeguarding Officer provides one-to-one and group guidance and mentoring, signposting students to internal services or external agencies, helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment across the college group.
