Job summary

The University of Manchester, School of Biological Sciences, invites applications for a Student Service, Support and Development Manager to lead the school-based student services team and ensure high-quality information, advice and welfare support across the student journey.

You will work with academic and professional services colleagues to deliver a joined-up student experience, supporting inclusion, student success and continuous improvement within the Faculty.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in information, advice and student support.
• Proven record in leading a team with clear objectives and performance goals.
• Experience in a customer‑focused environment delivering exceptional service to stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and influence colleagues across boundaries.

Responsibilities

• To lead teams to deliver consistent, sustainable support and expertise for students across the organisation; in line with standards.
• To lead, organise, motivate and direct the work of the team, delegating responsibilities appropriately.
• To manage the Student Service, Support and Development Team and the school-based hub.
• To develop and manage the student communication and engagement framework within the School.
• To manage development and delivery of welcome, induction and related activities for all students.
