Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking an experienced finance professional to lead treasury management within the Corporate Finance Team. You will oversee cashflow forecasting, investments, borrowing and fixed asset accounting, ensuring robust capital accounting and statutory reporting.

You will provide expert technical advice to senior stakeholders, build strong relationships with internal and external partners, and drive governance, compliance and continuous improvement across the Council’s

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial information.
• Confidence communicating technical finance matters to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience building effective working relationships with auditors, advisers and external partners.
• Proactive approach to problem solving, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality financial services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Council's Treasury Management function.
• Manage cashflow, investments, and borrowing activities.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting and the Council's asset register.
• Coordinate asset valuations and capital accounting activities.
• Support statutory accounts production and audit requirements.
• Provide specialist technical finance advice to senior stakeholders.
