We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Corporate Finance Team in a specialist technical role with responsibility for treasury management, cashflow forecasting, fixed asset accounting and asset valuations.

The role plays a key part in safeguarding the Council's financial position through the management of investments and borrowing, oversight of the Council's asset register, capital accounting, and support for statutory financial reporting. Working with colleagues across the organisation and a range of external stakeholders, you will provide expert advice in areas critical to the Council's financial governance and long-term sustainability.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing cashflow, investments, and borrowing activities.
  • Overseeing fixed asset accounting and the Council's asset register.
  • Coordinating asset valuations and capital accounting activities.
  • Supporting statutory accounts production and audit requirements.
  • Providing specialist technical finance advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Driving financial governance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring:
  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) and membership of the relevant professional body.
  • Technical finance expertise and a strong understanding of corporate finance, treasury management or capital accounting.
  • Experience in one or more specialist areas, including treasury management, asset management, fixed asset accounting, capital accounting or statutory financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Confidence in communicating technical financial matters to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of building effective working relationships with colleagues, auditors, advisers and external partners.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality financial services.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet challenging deadlines.

  • 26 days annual leave plus public/bank holidays, rising to 31 days after 5 years of service (pro rata for part-time employees)
