Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking an experienced Associate Sourcing Lead to join the new Sourcing Team. You will lead strategic procurement projects, provide expert commercial advice, and develop a high-performing team to deliver value for money and ethical procurement.

Qualifications

• Experience developing procurement strategies across full lifecycle within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, governance and commercial best practice.
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and partners.
• Proven capability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues and teams.
• Willingness to progress toward Level 5 CIPS Diploma if not already achieved.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement and sourcing projects, developing strategies that deliver value for money and align with organisational priorities.
• Provide expert procurement advice to internal stakeholders and suppliers, building trusted relationships across the Council and market.
• Use supplier performance data and market intelligence to identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation.
• Drive continuous improvement by promoting procurement systems, technology and digital tools.
• Develop procurement guidance, toolkit resources and best practice communications across digital platforms.
• Ensure procurement activity complies with legislative, governance and assurance requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing procurement team.
