Job summary

Birmingham City Council is recruiting two Associate Sourcing Leads to join our newly established Sourcing Team. The role delivers strategic procurement, provides expert advice to stakeholders, and develops a high-performing team focused on commercial excellence.

Qualified applicants will lead procurement projects, drive value for money, ensure compliance with governance, and develop guidance and best practice resources, with access to flexible and hybrid working where service needs allow.

Qualifications

• Experience developing procurement strategies and delivering sourcing activity in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, governance and commercial best practice.
• Experience building relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Strong analytical skills using supplier performance data.
• Experience using procurement systems and digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement and sourcing projects, delivering value for money and meeting priorities.
• Provide expert procurement advice to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
• Use supplier performance, commercial data and market intelligence to identify opportunities and risks.
• Drive continuous improvement by promoting procurement systems, technology and AI.
• Develop procurement guidance, toolkits and best practice resources.
• Ensure procurement activity complies with governance and legislation.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of procurement professionals.
