Job summary

Oakfield Park School is seeking an experienced SENCO to provide strategic leadership for SEND across our multi-site provision for 11–19 year olds with complex needs. You will work with senior leaders, families and external agencies to ensure every student receives the support they need to flourish.

You will also serve as Designated Teacher for Looked after Children (CIC), creating PEPs and attending meetings, driving high-quality inclusive practice and continuous school improvement.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• NPQ for SENCO or NASENCO before Sept 2024 is preferred.
• Substantial experience supporting children and young people with SEND.
• Thorough understanding of current SEND legislation, policy and best practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of SEND provision.
• Monitor, evaluate, and develop the effectiveness of interventions and support programmes.
• Collaborate with staff, families, and external professionals to meet students' needs.
• Ensure compliance with statutory SEND requirements and high-quality provision.
• Direct resources to maximise outcomes for learners.
• Lead professional development to build staff SEND expertise.
