Job summary

Sharp Consultancy are delighted to be partnering with a Sheffield based engineering and manufacturing business as they appoint a Sales & Commercial Manager. This role offers broad ownership across Technical Sales, Commercial Management, Pre-Production and Business Development, reporting to the Board and shaping the company’s commercial strategy.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' supervisory or management experience in engineering/manufacturing.
• Background in engineering, metal fabrication or similar.
• Experience with technical estimating and manufacturing planning.
• Strong commercial awareness on pricing and profitability.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and make commercial decisions.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Pre-Production team across order entry, estimating and planning.
• Improve quoting, order intake and scheduling processes.
• Manage commercial process from RFQ to production launch.
• Develop new business opportunities across multi-process engineering and manufacturing.
• Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to align requirements.
• Collaborate with production teams to align capacity and lead times.
• Support Board with commercial targets, budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor and report KPIs and business performance.
• Maintain quotation accuracy, material costs and job profitability.
• Lead regular pre-production meetings to manage priorities and risks.
