Job summary

SLX, based in Avonmouth, Bristol, is seeking a Financial Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and drive the financial strategy across the business. You will ensure timely financial reporting to the CEO and Board, and oversee accounting systems, control environments, and project financial analyses.

You will lead a team, manage budgets, cashflow, and financial planning, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support growth and resilience.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ability to lead teams and communicate with the CEO and Board.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports for Senior Management Team and Board.
• Prepare month end journals and WIP reports using sales pipeline.
• Prepare monthly management P&L, balance sheet, cashflow forecast.
• Analyse margins and other KPIs; identify variances.
• Prepare annual budget and cashflow forecast.
• Monitor and manage cashflow and working capital.
• Review supplier payments and VAT returns; liaise with accountants.
• Coordinate with Insurance Brokers and Sustainability Manager as needed.
• Lead finance team and manage day-to-day finance operations.
