Job summary

Bimplus is seeking a Commercial Director in Huntingdon to provide strategic leadership for a substantial project portfolio. This board-facing role requires a commercially astute leader who can influence business strategy, drive profitability and build a high-performing commercial function.

The role is full-time with hybrid working from their Huntingdon office, offering responsibilities across tendering, contract management and project governance.

Qualifications

• Senior commercial leadership experience within civil engineering, earthworks, groundworks or construction.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contracts.
• Excellent commercial acumen with negotiation, forecasting and risk management.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across sites.

Responsibilities

• Own the commercial strategy across the specialist division ensuring profitability and risk targets.
• Lead estimating and bid function including tender adjudication and pricing strategy.
• Oversee contract administration across live projects ensuring NEC/JCT compliance.
• Manage contractual matters including early warnings, variations, claims, final accounts.
• Review CVRs, project forecasts and commercial performance reporting for Board review.
• Manage commercial risk throughout project lifecycle including contracts and insurances.
• Lead procurement and negotiation of major subcontract and supply chain packages.
• Drive cash flow through payments, valuations and debt recovery.
• Lead, mentor and develop Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
• Build relationships with clients, consultants, principal contractors and supply chain partners.
• Support business development initiatives and client presentations.
• Act as trusted commercial advisor to the Board.
