Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a Business Development Executive to identify new opportunities, build client partnerships, and expand our market presence. The role blends outreach with strategic bid development, delivering value to customers and stakeholders.

You’ll travel when required, work hybrid in Seething/Norwich, and partner with internal teams to convert leads into sustainable growth within the Blue Economy markets.

Qualifications

• Experience in business development or a similar role.
• Good understanding of sales and marketing principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage enquiries from receipt through to quotation, proactive follow-up, and successful order conversion, ensuring a professional and responsive customer experience.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, overseas offices, and internal stakeholders, fostering effective collaboration and long-term business growth.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, networking, industry engagement, and lead generation activities.
• Prepare, present, and negotiate compelling proposals and commercial offers that align with customer requirements and company objectives.
• Accurately maintain customer, sales, and opportunity data within company systems, ensuring records are up to date and reliable.
• Support the development and delivery of business development strategies while maintaining strong commercial awareness and adherence to company processes.
• Monitor industry trends, market developments, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and support informed business decisions.
• Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences, enhancing brand awareness and generating new business leads.
