Job summary

Prime Appointments Ltd is recruiting for a newly created Stores Manager role based near Tendring, UK. You will take a manual stores setup and manage it end-to-end, with scope to shape processes as the business relocates to a new facility.

This is a process-ownership position rather than people management. Key duties include controlling stock, processing component orders, handling goods-in paperwork, and building relationships with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience in stores, inventory or parts management within engineering/manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently with strong organisational skills.
• Experience liaising with suppliers on pricing and lead times.
• Accurate handling of goods-in paperwork and stock records.
• Experience with kanban or lean stock-management systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with digital stock-management tools.

Responsibilities

About the Company

Our client is a well-established, UK-based designer and manufacturer of bespoke engineering equipment, supplying customers across the food, drink, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors worldwide.

The Role

This is a newly created position, driven by the upcoming move to the new site. You'll take a currently manual stores setup and manage it end-to-end, with the scope to shape processes as the business transitions into the new facility. This is a process-ownership role rather than a people-management one.

Key responsibilities include:

• Controlling stock levels across all parts and components
• Processing orders for components used in machine builds, spares, and service work
• Managing all incoming goods and the associated paperwork
• Preparing spares kits ahead of scheduled service jobs
• Building and maintaining supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing and lead times
• Introducing a kanban-style system to manage stock and parts
• Supporting the digitalisation of stores processes as the business moves to the new facility

About You

• Experience in a stores, inventory or parts management role, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Comfortable managing a function independently, with strong organisational skills
• Confident liaising with suppliers, including on pricing and lead times
• Able to work accurately with goods-in paperwork and stock records
• Experience with kanban or similar lean stock-management systems is a strong advantage
• Comfortable working with or helping introduce digital stock-management tools
• A proactive approach, well suited to helping shape processes during a site move
