Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd. is seeking a reliable Goods In / Stores Person for a busy manufacturing setting. You will receive and check incoming materials, maintain stock records, and ensure components are available for production and project builds.

Responsibilities include checking deliveries, inspecting components, recording goods received, and stocking in a controlled stores area. This is a physically active role requiring lifting and standing in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Inspect incoming components for damage and quality issues.
• Check sheet metal and precision-machined parts against drawings.
• Record goods received accurately using an ERP/MRP system.
• Kit and issue materials for production and project builds.
• Maintain an organised stores, warehouse and WIP areas.
• Carry out stock checks and investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor stock levels and highlight potential shortages.
• Process returns and rejected materials with Production and Quality.
• Safely handle materials using pallet trucks and trolleys.

Location: Cambridge (CB25)

Duration: Ongoing with the potential to go temp to perm

Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday with an hours lunch break (35 hours per week)

Salary: Up to £14.50 per hour depending on experience

• Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes
• Inspect incoming components for damage and obvious quality issues
• Check sheet metal and precision-machined parts against drawings
• Accurately record goods received using an ERP/MRP system
• Kit and issue materials for production and project builds
• Maintain an organised stores, warehouse and WIP areas
• Carry out stock checks and investigate inventory discrepancies
• Monitor stock levels and highlight potential shortages
• Process returned and rejected materials in conjunction with Production and Quality
• Safely handle materials using pallet trucks, trolleys and other equipment

Requirements

• 1-2 years' experience in a stores, warehouse or inventory role
• Ideally, experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Basic computer skills and experience using an ERP/MRP system
• Good attention to detail, particularly when checking part numbers and quantities
• Organised and proactive approach to work
• Comfortable with a physically active role involving lifting, bending and standing
• Able to work effectively in a busy environment where priorities can change
