Job summary

Mamas & Papas is seeking a Flagship Store Manager to lead our flagship store in Manchester, owning the customer experience, sales performance, and team development. You will drive profitability, set high standards for presentation, and lead a high-performing team to deliver exceptional service.

You will recruit, coach and retain talent, champion new ideas, and ensure health and safety and operational excellence across the estate. A proven retail leader with a customer-first mindset is essential.

Our flagship store is where Mamas & Papas comes to life. It's often a parent's first real experience of our brand, and it sets the standard for every store in our estate. As Flagship Store Manager, you'll own that experience: the numbers, the team and the moments that make families choose us.

You'll be commercially sharp and results-driven, with a clear focus on sales, margin, conversion and cost control. You'll put the customer at the heart of every decision so that every visit, from a first browse to a Buying for Baby appointment, feels expert, warm and personal.

As a strong people leader, you'll attract, develop and retain great talent and build succession plans for your team. You'll never settle for "good enough." You'll champion new ideas and better ways of working while keeping operational standards and compliance at 100%.

Role & Responsibilities

Sales & Performance

• Own the store’s P&L, driving sales and profitability
• Analyse trading performance and act quickly on plans to hit targets
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners

Customer Experience

• Deliver exceptional service and make the most of every sales opportunity
• Use customer feedback to continually improve the in-store experience
• Set the flagship standard for presentation, both on the shop floor and back of house

People Leadership

• Recruit, induct and develop a high-performing team
• Coach and mentor colleagues, and build a strong succession pipeline
• Keep the team informed, engaged and connected to company goals
• Manage performance fairly and consistently, in line with company policy

Operations

• Oversee cash, stock, payroll and rota planning
• Take full ownership of Health & Safety, keeping the store safe and welcoming
• Prepare for store visits and follow through on agreed actions
• Look for better ways of working and share best practice across the estate

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• A proven track record of driving sales, profit and commercial initiatives in retail
• A strong, inspiring leader who's passionate about customer service and developing people
• A great communicator who builds positive, open relationships
• Resilient and solution-focused, with a positive "can do" attitude
