Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate Youth Mentors to support students with SEMH needs at a secondary school in Stockport. You will deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring, helping pupils build confidence, emotional resilience, and positive behaviours in a calm, structured environment.

Hours are 8:30am-3:45pm, pay from £97 per day, ASAP start. Ideal candidates have education/teaching support or youth work experience and a patient, empathetic approach to challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

• Education or teaching support experience is desirable.
• Experience in youth work or mentoring helps.
• Care or support work background is suitable.
• Ability to support behaviour and emotional needs.
• Experience in residential or community settings is a plus.
• Demonstrated work with young people with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring and pastoral support.
• Help pupils develop strategies for emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and activities.
• Implement individual behaviour support plans and interventions.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, wellbeing.
• Create a calm, safe, inclusive environment where pupils feel valued.
