Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking Youth Mentors to support pupils with SEMH needs at a Stockport secondary school. You will provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring, helping students build confidence, emotional resilience and positive behaviours in a supportive environment.

The role focuses on establishing trusting relationships, practical strategies for emotional regulation, and collaborative work with teachers and pastoral staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people in education, youth work, or care settings.
• Ability to support pupils with SEMH needs and manage challenging behaviours.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills with pupils, families, and staff.
• Ability to work both one-to-one and in small groups within a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring and pastoral support.
• Help pupils develop strategies for emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Support pupils during lessons, breaks and structured activities.
• Implement individual behaviour support plans and targeted interventions.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Contribute to a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
