Job summary

Wessex NHS Procurement Limited is seeking a Stock Management Officer (Band 3) based at Basingstoke, with potential accommodation at Winchester. This permanent role offers a salary of £25,760–£27,476 per annum pro rata and supports NHS procurement for Hampshire Trusts.

You will manage stock profiles, generate reports, and advocate standardisation across the trust's materials management to improve efficiency and patient care.

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 in Materials Management or equivalent.
  • Basic level experience of Windows Word and Excel.
  • Strong math and English skills as part of education.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and analyse reports to guide departments on Trust initiatives.
  • Promote standardisation and rationalisation across procurement.

Job Title: Stock Management Officer

Contract: Permanent

Under current Home Office rules, this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

Please note this role is based at Basingstoke but could also require you to work from Winchester.

Main duties of the job

At WPL, we play an important role for the NHS, providing procurement and supply chain services to two of the largest acute NHS Trusts in Hampshire. You’ll be part of a dynamic like-minded team, and with over 60 employees working collaboratively across three sites, you'll have the opportunity to be challenged and take your career to the next level.

As a Stock Management Officer, you will work as part of a team to provide an efficient and reliable Materials Management Service throughout the Trust by setting up and maintaining stock profiles (including high value “non-stock” items procured directly from Suppliers), to meet clinical requirements. You will produce and analyse reports in order to recommend and persuade user departments to follow Trust initiatives such as Standardisation and Rationalisation programs. You will also act as an ambassador to the department in encouraging the development of supply chain solutions.

Qualifications / training required
  • Understanding Materials Management principles and process including stock control, ordering, invoicing and customer care skills, acquired through NVQ level 3 or foundation stage of CIPS or equivalent experience in a Materials Management role
  • Basic level experience of Windows applications Word and Excel
  • Good Standard of Education including Mathematics and English
Previous or relevant experience necessary
  • Experience of being able to work under own initiative without direct supervision to achieve completion of tasks relating to own areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrable customer care skills with examples both on the telephone and in person
  • Have experience in previous job roles which required good organisational skills and prioritisation of workload
  • Medical consumables product knowledge
  • Knowledge of NHS Purchase Order and Materials Management systems
  • Experience in working with NHS Procurement / Materials Management / Distribution
  • Supply chain knowledge
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in the Workplace
  • Previous hospital or health service experience
