Job summary

STERIS Instrument Processing in London is seeking reliable staff to join our sterile services team on night shifts from 22:00 to 06:00. You will decontaminate, inspect, assemble and pack sterile items to exacting quality standards, ensuring patient safety.

Experience is not essential, as full structured training is provided. We offer a £25,272 annual salary plus a 5% performance bonus and London allowances, with generous annual leave and comprehensive development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
• Basic end user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble and pack sterile consumables to predefined quality standards.
• Check, wash, lay up and pack theatre instrument sets to contract specifications.
• Safely operate and monitor washer, disinfectors, ultrasonic and steriliser equipment.
• Log repairs and missing instruments on the Tracking and Traceability system.
• Return repaired instruments to stock or coded sets as directed.

What is involved

• Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
• Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
• Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
• Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
• Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Required Experience

• Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.

Preferred Experience

• TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health related products.
