Job summary

STERIS Instrument Processing in London is recruiting for an entry-level Sterile Services Technician. You will join a team dedicated to keeping patients safe by supporting decontamination, inspection, and packing of sterile consumables for theatre use.

The role offers world-class training, with night shifts 22:00-06:00, and opportunities to develop a defined career pathway within the NHS environment. A strong focus on accuracy, teamwork, and accountability is essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have good general education with verbal and numerical abilities.
  • Basic end user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT system.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective preparation of sterile consumables by decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing to defined quality standards.
  • Rigorously check, wash, lay up and pack theatre instrument sets to contract specifications.
  • Safely operate and monitor machines (washers, disinfectors, ultrasonic, sterilizers).
  • Record and log repairs and missing instruments on Tracking and Traceability system (SynergyTrak).
  • Return repaired instruments to stock or appropriate coded sets or Trust’s appointed person.

We are currently recruiting for a Sterile Services Technician vacancy. What is involved
  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust's appointed person. Required Experience
  • Educated to a good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.

Preferred Experience
  • TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
