Job summary

STERIS Instrument Processing is recruiting an entry-level Sterile Services Technician to join our team in the UK. You will learn decontamination, inspection, packing and the handling of theatre instruments while receiving world-class training to set you on a defined career pathway.

During the 12 weeks of full-time training, you will work 8:00-16:00, then move to 14:00-22:00 shifts, with weekends. The role includes a salary of £25,272 per year plus a 5% performance bonus and potential London

Working Pattern

12 weeks of full-time training on Monday-Friday at 8:00-16:00. Then, move to full-time permanent shift, 14:00-22:00 Monday - Sunday (5 days a week) includes weekends

What's Involved

• Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
• Rigorously checking, washing, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
• Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
• Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
• Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Preferred Experience

• An annual salary of £25,272 plus a 5% performance bonus, and generous shift allowances if you work overtime/unsociable hours! Plus, a higher cost of living allowance if you work in London.
