Job Description:

The GM Motorsports Software team analyzes, defines, and delivers next-generation groundbreaking Motorsports IT software solutions. Using innovative cloud infrastructure and software development standards, these solutions enable interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and our Race teams, accelerating our drivers to the finish line first! Our team of analysts, architects, developers, data engineers, testers, and project managers work with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure podium wins for GM’s NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar teams.

The Role:

The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery. This experienced role requires an expert technical foundation, significant hands-on project contributions, leading solution architectures, and broad exposure to scalable cloud systems development. You will shape and build Motorsports software, focusing on aerodynamics systems design.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a team to implement and maintain GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD model construction, visualization, and analysis.
  2. Develop solution architectures and lead consensus on technical approaches.
  3. Focus on modern application design, code quality, modular frameworks, and loosely connected systems integration.
  4. Identify value gaps within the aerodynamics team and develop solutions.
  5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth delivery milestones.
  6. Deliver Scrum stories, including playbooks, architectures, interfaces, build frameworks, testing, and deployment.
  7. Collaborate with team members and support joint efforts.
  8. Be reliable and self-managed in delivering your part of the solution.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical discipline.
  • Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
  • Experience in full stack application development.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • 5+ years in microservices development.
  • 2+ years in web services design and development.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Understanding of software best practices, DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Experience in agile/scrum environments.
Desired Skills:
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Exposure to aerodynamics engineering.
  • Knowledge of AI & Machine Learning.
  • Experience with VR frameworks, data streaming tech, cross-platform development, UI/UX design, team leadership, and system architecture.
  • Interest in Motorsports and high-paced environments.
