Workplace Classification: Hybrid - this position does not require full-time on-site presence. Employees are expected to be onsite up to 3 times per week at either our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.
The Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT software solutions for motorsports, leveraging cloud infrastructure and software standards to enhance interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and race teams, aiming for podium finishes in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar racing.
The Role: The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, requiring expert-level technical skills, hands-on project contributions, solution architecture development, and experience with scalable cloud systems. The role involves building motorsports software to provide a competitive advantage and involves aerodynamics systems design.
Responsibilities include leading a team in developing aero-thermal applications, designing solution architectures, focusing on modern application design, addressing value gaps, resolving technical blockers, and ensuring smooth delivery milestones.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, extensive experience in CFD, microservices, cloud applications, and related technologies, along with strong collaboration and communication skills. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, aerodynamics exposure, AI/ML knowledge, VR development experience, and leadership skills.
