Job Description

This position involves working within GM’s Motorsports Software team, focusing on analyzing, defining, and delivering innovative IT software solutions for motorsports. The role requires a hybrid work model, with onsite presence up to 3 times per week at our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.

Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team collaborates to create cloud-based infrastructure and software that enhances interactions between GM Global Engineering, Motorsports, and Race teams, aiming for podium finishes in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA.

Role: As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on software development, focusing on scalable cloud systems, solution architecture, and motorsports software development, particularly aerodynamics systems design.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead development of GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling, visualization, and analysis.
  • Design and lead solution architecture discussions, ensuring consensus and best practices.
  • Develop modern, modular application designs with high code quality.
  • Identify and address value gaps within the aerodynamics team, providing innovative solutions.
  • Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Manage scrum story delivery, including architecture, interfaces, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to support project goals.
  • Maintain reliability and self-management in project contributions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
  • Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, data streaming platforms.
  • Experience with full stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • At least 5 years in microservices development and 2 years in web services design.
  • Proficiency with containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Understanding of devops, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics and AI/ML.
  • Experience with VR frameworks, data streaming technologies, and cross-platform development.
  • Leadership experience and system architecture expertise.
