Workplace Classification: Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. It requires being onsite up to 3 times per week at either our Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.

The Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT software solutions for Motorsports, utilizing cloud infrastructure and software standards. Our team collaborates with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure success in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar racing.

The Role: The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, contributing to scalable cloud systems, solution architecture, and motorsports software development, particularly in aerodynamics systems design.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team of developers on GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications including CFD modeling, visualization, and analysis.
2. Design solution architectures and lead team consensus on technical approaches.
3. Focus on modern application design, modular frameworks, and loosely connected systems integration.
4. Collaborate with the aerodynamics team to identify and fill value gaps with innovative solutions.
5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth delivery milestones.
6. Manage Scrum story delivery and contribute to implementation architectures, interfaces, and deployment.
7. Support team collaboration and maintain self-managed delivery standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
• Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
• Experience with full stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• At least 5 years in microservices development and 2 years in web services design.
• Proficiency with containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a technical discipline.
• Exposure to aerodynamics, AI/ML, VR frameworks, and data streaming technologies.
• Leadership and architecture experience, cross-platform development skills, and knowledge of data serialization.
