Job Description

This role involves leading the development of GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling, visualization, and analysis. The position requires technical leadership, software delivery, and expertise in scalable cloud systems. The candidate will work closely with the motorsports team to build systems that provide competitive advantages on race day, with a focus on aerodynamics systems design.

Workplace Classification

Hybrid: Up to 3 days per week onsite at Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.

The Team

GM’s Motorsports Software team develops innovative IT solutions for racing, utilizing cloud infrastructure and software standards to support NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of developers on GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD models and visualization tools.
  • Design solution architectures and lead the team in implementation.
  • Focus on modern application design, code quality, and modular frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the aerodynamics team to identify and fill value gaps with solutions.
  • Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth delivery milestones.
  • Manage scrum story delivery, including architecture, interfaces, testing, and deployment.
  • Support team collaboration and ensure reliable, self-managed delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
  • Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
  • Experience with full stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • At least 5 years in microservices development and 2 years in web services design.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
Additional Skills
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: Master's degree, aerodynamics exposure, AI/ML knowledge, VR frameworks, data streaming tech, cross-platform development, UI/UX design, leadership experience, knowledge of data serialization, passion for motorsports.
