Job summary

Kestrel Ward in Abergele (North Wales) seeks a Staff Nurse to work in a Tier 4 CAMHS adolescent unit. You’ll care for young people aged 11–17 with complex mental health needs in a dynamic MDT.

Full- or part-time roles available. Experience with young people is helpful but not essential; a willingness to learn and develop therapeutic skills is key. We offer ongoing training and supervision.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with valid PIN and appropriate specialism.
• Mandatory training up to date.
• Experience with CAMHS or adolescent care desirable.

The unit is based at the North Wales Adolescent Service in Abergele- North Wales and operates alongside an Intensive community support team and Virtual eating disorder service to support the young people of North Wales.

We encourage applications from RMNs, RNCs and RNLD both newly qualified and those with experience looking to specialise or broaden their scope of practice.

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and forward- thinking staff nurse available to work full or part time to within Kestrel ward. Prior experience of working with young people is not required, however a willingness to learn and develop the therapeutic skills needed is key.

For successful candidates there will be opportunities for further training and professional development, in line with the complex needs of the service. Staff wellbeing and support is an important part of the NWAS ethos and the ward offers its team twice weekly staff support sessions as a group, as well as individual line management and clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job

You will work within a well-established MDT team consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, family therapy and art therapy. The role of staff nurse covers a wide range of tasks including assessment and the provision of support and treatment interventions to children and their families. For these tasks you will require confidence, patience, tolerance and the ability to think creatively to problem solve and overcome challenges.

Qualifications

• Registered Mental Health Nurse RN3 First Level , Sub part 1, or/and Registered Nurse Learning Disability or Paediatric Nurse.

Essential criteria

• Up dated mandatory training.

Desirable criteria

• Qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

Experience
