Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) North Wales is seeking a proactive administrative assistant for a busy Children's ward. The role supports nursing staff and doctors with clerical tasks and patient data entry, ensuring smooth ward operations.

Welsh speaking at level 3 is essential. The position is fixed-term/secondment until 31 March 2027, with a flexible, patient‑focused approach and a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English/Maths or equivalent required.
  • NVQ 2 in Administration preferred.
  • NVQ in Customer Service desirable.
  • Experience of customer service.
  • General administration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Data inputting, admitting and discharging patients, answering the telephone, dealing with families and filing.
  • Preparing case notes and maintaining patient records.
  • Provide administrative support to nursing staff and doctors within the unit.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Job Overview

This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 31.03.2027 to meet the needs of the service.

If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post. minimum level 3. An opportunity has arisen to join a busy Children's ward providing comprehensive administrative support to the nursing staff and doctors within the unit.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for colleagues with experience of admin and clerical duties, who have good interpersonal and organisational skills and who will be able to work well within our existing team.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work, be reliable, adaptable and have good organisational skills. A pleasant telephone manner and good communication skills are essential to receive and respond courteously to all telephone enquiries regarding patient care.

You will also be computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office, be a team player and able to maintain confidentiality. Applicants must also have a good standard of education.

Main duties of the role involve data inputting, admitting and discharging patients, answering the telephone, dealing with families, preparing case notes and filing.
