Job summary

The post offers an exciting opportunity within the children’s community Nursing Team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to provide care for children in the community with acute or chronic health needs.

You will manage your own caseload, assess, plan, implement and monitor care, and contribute to teaching and supervising junior staff. Applications from Welsh and English speakers are welcome; Welsh language skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree with evidence of post-registration learning or equivalent experience.
• NMC Registered Nurse with child health specialization.
• Postgraduate knowledge in teaching and assessing learners.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and monitor care for a child’s needs within the community.
• Teach and supervise junior staff and support workers across health, education and social care settings.
• Provide continuity of care and support to families and carers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the children’s community Nursing Team Children’s Nurse to provide care for children in the community setting with acute/chronic health care needs.

Main duties of the job

The post will be allocated their own case load and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of patient care. In addition to this you will be responsible for teaching/training of junior staff, support workers and untrained staff within health, education and social care settings to meet the child’s needs and to ensure continuity of care

Essential criteria

• Degree in Nursing and evidence of post registration learning or equivalent experience
• NMC Registered Nurse – RSCN, Child Branch or equivalent.
• ENB 998 Teaching and Assessing course or equivalent
• Child protection training at level 3
• Post graduate Diploma Qualification or equivalent level of knowledge experience

Desirable criteria

• S.M.A.R.T. pack training

Experience

Essential criteria

• Substantial experience working as a Children’s nurse
• Experience with relevant portfolio of mentoring students demonstrating own development
• Experience within the appropriate clinical area
• Nursing experience of working with children with acute, chronic or complex health care needs

Skills

Essential criteria

• Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative


• Ability to communicate with children and families in relevant language


• Ability to work without supervision and take charge/responsibility regularly in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility

Desirable criteria

• Commitment to developing appraisal and clinical supervision skills
