Job summary

Preply is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to own data strategy for key product domains and act as senior analytical authority. You will partner with Directors and VPs across Product, Engineering and Business to shape long-term strategy and ensure roadmap grounded in robust measurement frameworks.

You’ll design large-scale experiments, lead causal inference work, mentor senior data scientists, and drive cross-domain analytics such as LTV modeling, pricing optimization, and marketplace health.

Qualifications

• Proven track record influencing product or business strategy at senior levels.
• Expertise in experimentation and causal inference under imperfect conditions.
• Strong understanding of subscription/marketplace economics including LTV, retention, pricing.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python; ability to elevate others' analyses.
• Experience mentoring senior data scientists and shaping data teams.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term measurement strategy and growth levers for your domain.
• Design and run large-scale experiments; evaluate impact on business outcomes.
• Own forecasting, scenario analysis, and risk assessment for major initiatives.
• Set governance for key metrics; ensure alignment with company goals.
• Partner with product, eng, and business leaders to elevate analytical standards.
• Lead cross-domain analytics initiatives (e.g., company-wide LTV modeling).
