Job summary

Preply is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to shape the analytical foundations of the company and drive scalable data models across product, growth, finance and engineering. You'll own data models, analytics standards, and robust ETL/ELT pipelines, enabling self‑service analytics with Looker/LookML and BI tools.

You'll collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Engineers to improve data quality, governance, and decision‑making, while mentoring others and raising engineering

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in analytics engineering or data engineering on complex, high‑impact data systems.
• Expert-level SQL with Python in data workflows.
• Proven ability to design scalable analytical data models for experimentation and reporting.
• Hands-on experience with dbt, Looker, Airflow or similar tools.
• Strong data modeling, analytics architecture, and self‑serve BI understanding.
• Fluent English (C1 level or above).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of core analytical data models across key business domains.
• Define analytics engineering standards (modeling, naming, testing, documentation).
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for multi-terabyte data with high reliability.
• Own and evolve the BI/semantic layer (Looker/LookML) for self-service analytics.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineers to streamline analytics workflows.
• Drive data quality, reliability, and governance across datasets.
• Influence company-wide data strategy to support experimentation and growth.
• Collaborate with Engineering to deliver data products for Experimentation, AI teams.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor within Analytics Engineering.
