Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Identity International) to lead backend design and delivery for global identity services. You will drive architecture decisions, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and raise the bar for reliability and scale in a remote-first environment.

You will own technical strategy for your team, mentor engineers, and ensure robust operational practices while partnering with global teams to expand capabilities across markets.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Strong track record building highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin and modern cloud-based tech.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics for sustainable solutions.
• Advocate for robust technical solutions and operational playbooks.
