Job summary

Ripple Education in Gateshead is recruiting Specialist Teachers to support primary and secondary pupils in specialist settings. You will create engaging, structured lessons and build positive relationships with learners who may need SEMH or SEND support.

Ideal candidates are patient, compassionate and resilient with QTS, strong classroom management, safeguarding knowledge, and the flexibility to work across short and long-term placements.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience working with children or young people in an education setting
• A calm, consistent and compassionate approach
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• An understanding of safeguarding and the vulnerabilities some young people may experience
• Experience within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist settings would be beneficial

Responsibilities

• Plan engaging, structured lessons
• Adapt teaching to individual learning and needs
• Support pupils individually and in small groups
• Build trusted, consistent relationships with young people
• Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and engagement with education
• Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
• Work closely with support staff and other professionals
