Job summary

Ripple Education is recruiting a Specialist Learning Support Assistant for an immediate start at a school in Berwick-upon-Tweed. This full-time, short-term role provides calm, consistent support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and build confidence.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group support, work closely with teachers and other staff, follow individual plans and safeguarding procedures, and contribute to a safe, positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people.
• Experience with SEND and SEMH is valuable.
• Relevant TA/LS qualification is beneficial.
• Ability to follow individual support plans and safeguarding policies.

Specialist Learning Support Assistant – Berwick-upon-TweedShort-Term Position | Full-Time | Immediate StartAre you a patient, resilient and compassionate Learning Support Assistant who can make a positive difference to children and young people who need additional support?Ripple Education is currently recruiting a Specialist Learning Support Assistant for an immediate start at a school in Berwick-upon-Tweed.This is a full-time, short-term position supporting pupils with SEND and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is looking for someone who can provide calm, consistent support, build positive relationships and help pupils successfully engage with education.At Ripple Education, we believe in finding the right person, not just a person, for every setting, with the needs of children at the heart of every placement.

The role

Depending on the needs of the pupils, you may:

• Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support
• Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
• Help pupils engage positively with learning
• Support children's social and emotional development
• Build trusted, consistent and professional relationships
• Support positive behaviour and use appropriate de-escalation strategies
• Encourage confidence, resilience and independence
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff
• Follow individual support plans and school procedures
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding at all times

• Reliable and able to commit to the short-term placement

Experience supporting children or young people is important.

Experience within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, PRUs or specialist education would be particularly valuable.

We also welcome applications from people with relevant transferable experience, including youth work, residential care, sports coaching and other child-focused settings.

A relevant Teaching Assistant or Learning Support qualification would be beneficial.
