Job summary

Wiltshire College & University Centre in Chippenham is seeking a Specialist Support Coach to provide tailored support for learners with additional needs. This role focuses on 1:1, small group and classroom interventions, helping students overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

The position is permanent, full-time (37 hours per week, term-time plus 4 weeks), with a competitive salary of £23,247 rising to £23,734 per year. A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion is essential.

  • Manage a caseload addressing attendance, study skills, and progression in English/Maths.
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support learner progression.
  • Help students develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
  • Adapt support strategies to individual learning needs.
  • Work with teaching staff to ensure student success and an inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment.

What Youll Do
  • Provide tailored support to learners with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom
  • You will provide tailored support through 1:1, small group and in-class interventions, supporting learners with a range of needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties
  • Manage a caseload of learners, supporting attendance, study skills, English and Maths, engagement and achievement
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support positive learner progression
  • Assist students in developing independence, confidence, and essential life skills
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning requirements
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure student success
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and encouraging learning environment
What Youll Bring
  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs (education, care, youth work, SEN support, or similar)
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a relevant Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • A patient, empathetic, and student-centred approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
