Job summary

Cheshire College - South & West in Ellesmere Port is seeking a Learner Wellbeing and Inclusion Coach to support learners through one-to-one and small-group work, helping them overcome emotional and physical barriers to learning.

You will manage a caseload of SEND and disadvantaged learners, deliver interventions, track progress, and work with curriculum and wellbeing teams to remove barriers to learning. The role is permanent with 37 hours per week, 36 weeks and 1 day per year, in Ellesmere Port.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant qualification.
  • GCSE Maths and English (minimum grade C/4).
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and admin tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of SEND and disadvantaged learners to mitigate disruption to learning, participation, attendance, wellbeing or achievement.
  • Support learners through one to one and group activities to overcome barriers to achieving their learning goals.
  • Provide direct interventions and facilitate internal and external partnership working to remove barriers to learning.
  • Track the progress of a caseload of learners and ensure college systems are up to date.
  • Promote the welfare of children and young people.

Job description

Salary: £29,838 - £32,579 pro rata per annum, (£25,362 - £27,692 per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, 36 weeks and 1 day per year

Location: Ellesmere Port

We are looking for a Learner Wellbeing and Inclusion Coach to support learners through one to one and small groups to help them overcome emotional and physical barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of SEND and disadvantaged learners to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from barriers to learning, participation, attendance, wellbeing or achievement;
  • Support learners through one to one and group activities to overcome barriers to achieving their learning goals;
  • Provide direct interventions to identified learners and facilitate internal and external partnership working to remove barriers to learning;
  • Track the progress of a caseload of learners, providing feedback to relevant curriculum, pastoral and wellbeing areas and ensuring College systems are up to date; and
  • Promote the welfare of children and young people.
Key Person Specification Requirements:
  • Level 4 or equivalent in relevant qualification
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent);
  • Evidence of relevant continuous professional development;
  • Experience of working and communicating effectively with young people who are disadvantaged and/or vulnerable;
  • Experience of working in a supportive environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of safeguarding procedures;
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in working and learning environments
  • Ability to carry out administration duties effectively; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.
