Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd, in partnership with King Edward VI College, is seeking a Specialist Support Assistant to support students aged 16–18 with SEN in Nuneaton. The role focuses on 1:1 classroom assistance, helping learners access the curriculum and participate confidently in lessons.

The successful candidate will differentiate activities, maintain a patient, proactive approach and work closely with staff to promote independence and academic progress.

Job Title: Specialist Support Assistant

Location: Nuneaton

Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026

Salary: £100 - £120 per day

Contract: Temporary

Working hours:

• Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8:30am - 4:30pm


• Wednesday and Friday: 8:30am - 2:45pm

The successful candidate will provide tailored 1:1 classroom support to students aged 16-18 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum, engage confidently in lessons and develop essential skills for independent learning.

The successful Specialist Support Assistant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification (desirable)


• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)


• Proven experience delivering 1:1 support within a classroom or educational setting


• The ability to differentiate learning activities and adapt support strategies to meet individual student needs


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students and staff


• A patient, compassionate and proactive approach, alongside a positive 'can-do' attitude
