Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant for a Newcastle-based secondary school. You will work alongside teaching staff to support students with SEN, encouraging engagement in learning and providing individual support as needed.

The role starts ASAP, with a focus on creating an inclusive classroom and fostering positive relationships with young people. A patient, adaptable approach and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
• Experience supporting students with SEN.
• Experience within a secondary school is desirable.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• A patient and supportive approach to working with young people.
• The ability to be flexible and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEN in the classroom and help engage with learning.
• Provide additional individual support where required.
• Assist in managing behaviour effectively and maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

The school is looking for someone who can help create an inclusive learning environment where students with additional needs feel supported and encouraged.

The school is looking to take on an SEN Teaching Assistant for day-to-day work with an ASAP start. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside teaching staff to support students with SEN in the classroom, encouraging engagement with learning, providing additional individual support where required and helping to manage behaviour effectively.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
• Experience supporting students with SEN
• Experience within a secondary school is desirable
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A patient and supportive approach to working with young people
• The ability to be flexible and adaptable
