Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with King Edward VI College in Nuneaton to recruit a Specialist Support Assistant for a short-term, full-time post from 2 November to 18 December 2026. You will provide tailored 1:1 classroom support to 16–18-year-old students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum and engage in lessons.

The role is based at the college and requires delivering sessions within standard school hours; working Mon, Tue and Thu 8:30am–4:30pm and Wed/Fri 8:30am–2:45pm, with pay of

Qualifications

• Experience delivering 1:1 support to students with SEN in an educational setting.
• Ability to differentiate learning activities and adapt support to individual needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and staff.
• Patient, adaptable and proactive with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
• Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

Salary: £100 - £120 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with King Edward VI College in Nuneaton to recruit a dedicated Specialist Support Assistant. The college provides education for students aged 16-18, offering a supportive learning environment that encourages academic achievement, personal development and independence.

The college is seeking a committed Specialist Support Assistant for a short-term, full-time position from Monday 2nd November until Friday 18th December 2026. The successful candidate will provide tailored 1:1 classroom support to students aged 16-18 with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum, engage confidently in lessons and develop essential skills for independent learning.

Working hours:

• Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
• Wednesday and Friday: 8:30am - 2:45pm

The successful Specialist Support Assistant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification (desirable)
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Proven experience delivering 1:1 support within a classroom or educational setting
• The ability to differentiate learning activities and adapt support strategies to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students and staff
• A patient, compassionate and proactive approach, alongside a positive 'can-do' attitude
