Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for flexible day-to-day supply bookings at a specialist school in Newark, supporting pupils aged 3 to 18 with complex needs.

The role requires a TA qualification or equivalent experience, a willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS, and a patient, nurturing approach. You will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored support in a safe, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Child and Adult DBS or willingness to apply for one
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting pupils with SEND
• Extensive experience working with children and young people with complex needs within a specialist school or SEND provision
• Strong understanding of SEND, including supporting pupils with a range of learning difficulties and additional needs
• Experience implementing individual learning strategies and supporting positive behaviour management
• Excellent communication skills, patience and a caring, nurturing approach
• Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to accept day-to-day bookings and adapt to different pupils' needs

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex learning needs across different age groups and classrooms
• Adapt to different classroom environments and individual learning plans
• Assist with personal care where required and support staff with supervision
• Collaborate with teaching staff to maintain a safe, positive, inclusive learning environment

The school offers purpose-built facilities and adopts an ethos focused on developing confidence, resilience and essential life skills, ensuring every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

The school is looking to take on an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for flexible day-to-day supply bookings, supporting pupils with complex learning needs across different age groups. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will be expected to adapt to different classroom environments, support individual learning and development, assist with personal care where required and work closely with teaching staff to provide a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Child and Adult DBS or willingness to apply for one
• relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience supporting pupils with SEND
