Job summary

NextGen Teachers are partnering with a specialist SEND school in Reigate to appoint a Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 2-11 with complex needs.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, helping access learning, and working closely with teachers, therapists and other staff. Full training is provided and there is a focus on developing communication, independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND, SEN, Autism or complex needs preferred but not essential.
• Experience in care, healthcare or medical environment valuable.
• Background in education, care or support work is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Help children access learning and classroom activities.
• Support pupils with Autism, severe learning difficulties and complex needs.
• Assist with complex medical and care requirements where needed.
• Encourage communication, independence and social development.
• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and regulation.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with children.
• Create a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialist staff.
• Help pupils work towards individual learning and development targets.
