Job summary

EmpowerED is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant in High Wycombe to join a fantastic specialist SEND school supporting children and young people with severe and complex learning needs, including complex autism.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and specialist professionals to provide individualised support to pupils across the school’s primary or secondary provision, with a curriculum focused on developing independence and practical skills.

Qualifications

• Not necessarily SEND experience; comprehensive training provided.
• Previous school experience isn't essential for this vacancy.
• Ability to support pupils with severe and complex learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with severe and complex learning needs.
• Work with children and young people with complex autism.
• Support communication using books, symbols and communication devices.
• Help pupils with sensory and emotional regulation.
• Support learning through practical and play-based activities.
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils.
• Support pupils with their individual physical, social and emotional needs.
• Work alongside teachers, Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
