Job summary

Cardiff University is seeking a Specialist Mechanical Technician based in the Cardiff School of Engineering Mechanical Department. The role provides technical support and carries out precision machining on a range of equipment used in teaching laboratories.

You will join a mechanical and manufacturing technical team responsible for tool making and fabrication of parts to support teaching and student activities. The position is full-time (35 hours/week) with a salary of £33,951–£36,636.

Qualifications

• Experience providing technical support in engineering workshops.
• Ability to carry out precision machining on equipment.
• Experience in tool making and fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional technical support to the department and workshops.
• Carry out precision machining on equipment including manual and CNC machines.
• Manufacture parts and equipment to support teaching and other student activities.
