Job summary

The University of Bath's Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a proactive technician to join the Student Workshop team. This on-campus, full-time role supports teaching and research across undergraduate sessions and research projects.

You will work with conventional machine tools (milling machines, lathes) with a path to CNC tools, and contribute to supervising undergraduates during final year projects, including safety inductions.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience with mechanical workshop machine tools and hand tools.
• Aptitude for practical, hands-on work and teaching support.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
• Operate conventional machine tools with potential progression to CNC tools; supervise undergraduates on projects.
• Oversee student activities in the workshop and conduct inductions to ensure safety.
