Job summary

Heriot-Watt University’s School of Engineering and Physical Sciences seeks a Mechanical Workshop Technician/Senior Technician to support teaching and research in a busy workshop. You will operate CNC machinery, assist with assemblies, and help with training labs for undergraduates and postgraduates.

The role requires 3–5 years post-apprentice experience, strong attention to detail, CAD/CAM proficiency, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Educated to SCQF Level 7-8, HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, CNC laser cutters with minimal supervision.
• Provide high-quality technical support for teaching and research activities.
• Maintain and service workshop equipment and keep safety records.
